Kerr Arts & Cultural Center Chocolate Fantasy Winners

Every year on Valentine’s Day Chocolate lovers roll into Kerrville from far and wide to oooh, aaah, revel, gorge, and generally indulge in and celebrate all things Chocolate at the KAC Chocolate Fantasy festival.

When you were 12 years old could you have ever believed that there could be such a thing as too much Chocolate? Well, according to the OMGs heard as people walked in to the Gallery of Chocolate there are a lot of grown-up twelve-year olds who had that moment of revelation.

New in February – Everything!

January at KACC was given over to a complete re-do of the galleries by an army of volunteers – on some days there was a crowd of painters rushing to & fro, and on other days there was only an army of one, KACC Board member and Schreiner University Dean David Smith, who single-handedly performed most of the high ladder work. Overseeing it all was KACC Executive Director Debbie Minns whose professional advice, such as “Or maybe we need to do that wall in one of the darker colors”, was always welcomed by the painting crew.

Work is complete (well, almost) as of February 1, 2016 and so visitors who come to view February’s shows will be able to see how the new color scheme and lighting work to make the KACC galleries a premiere Artspace equal to anything in larger communities. The reception for February’s shows on Saturday the 6th from 2-4 PM would be a perfect time to see the renovated galleries and the new shows while enjoying complementary food and beverages and mingling with fellow art appreciators.

Chocolates & Pastels At KACC For February

You can tell that Debbie Minns, Kerr Arts & Cultural Center Executive Director, is really happy to bring this particular new show to Kerr County. Minns smiles as she notes that “Deborah Males’ stunning pastels already grace many tasteful Hill Country homes, but it has been years since our community has had the opportunity to see and acquire some of her newest and most impressive works.”

“Do you remember,” Minns continues, “that feeling you got the first time you approached a hill country stream crossing and saw a limestone bluff bathed in our special sunlight and reflected in the cold, clear water?  Well, Deborah’s paintings evoke precisely that same feeling with their bold colors and strong accents. Her work is a perfect combination of emotional and strategic placement of the medium.”

Collectors who have been looking to bring very special images of the Texas Hill Country into their homes will not want to miss “Seasons of the Heart” in the Kerr Arts & Cultural Center’s newly redecorated Cornels gallery February 4th through the 28th. KACC Board members and volunteers have completely repainted and redecorated all the gallery spaces and according to one visitor during renovations, “Wow, this place really pops!” The reception for the long-awaited “Seasons of the Heart” exhibit is Sunday, Feb. 6th from 2-4 pm.

Also celebrated at this Sunday afternoon reception will be KACC’s two other February shows, the “Members Only Spotlight” in the Avery Gallery and “Artists In Action” in the Derby Gallery. Both galleries have also just been redecorated to enhance the viewing experience of visitors.
